Work with us
Know a place? Write the guide.
Epic Trip Ideas is written by travellers who have actually been there. If you know a destination deeply — its streets, costs, food and logistics — we would like you to write for us. Paid per guide, bylined, remote.
Who we are looking for
Destination guides
You live in (or know deeply) a place we cover — or one we should. You can tell readers where to stay, what to see and how to get around, with real prices.
Itinerary planners
You love stitching trains, ferries and flights into day-by-day plans that actually work: timings, overnight stops and the transfers between them.
Food & drink writers
Street food, local dishes, markets and how to order. You know what things cost and where the locals eat.
Budget researchers
You enjoy digging into real costs — transport fares, entry fees, accommodation bands — and turning them into honest price breakdowns.
How it works
-
Apply below
Tell us where you are, what you know best and link 2–3 writing samples (a blog, newsletter or even a great trip report counts).
-
We agree a brief
If it is a fit, we agree the guide, scope and fee per piece before you write a word — no spec work.
-
You research & write
First-hand detail checked against official sources, with the sources linked. An editor reviews and fact-checks with you.
-
You get published
Your byline, bio and author page on the site — and guides that stay live, credited and updated.
Our promise to contributors
- Paid per guide — fee agreed up front, before you write.
- Your byline and author page on every guide you write.
- An editor who fact-checks with you, not just red-pens you.
- No AI-generated filler with your name on it — your words, your knowledge.
The photographers behind the pictures
Our guides are illustrated with openly-licensed photography — 354 photographers and counting, from Bangkok night markets to Atlas foothills. Every photo is credited and linked on the guide where it appears. Thank you, all of you.

Good to know
Questions, answered
Is this paid?
Yes. We agree a fixed fee per guide before you start, based on scope and research involved. Mention your rate expectations when you apply.
Do I need to be a professional writer?
No. We need people who know a place deeply and write clearly. Editors help with structure, style and fact-checking — your job is the on-the-ground knowledge.
Where do I need to live?
Anywhere. Contributors work remotely. What matters is that you genuinely know the destination you want to cover — ideally because you live there or travel it often.
Who owns what I write?
Published guides belong to the site so we can keep them updated over time, with your byline kept on them. Details are agreed in writing before your first piece.
How soon will I hear back?
We read every application and reply within two weeks, even if it is a no. If you have not heard back by then, nudge us.
